The Healing Star (to the best of my knowledge) was founded by Sophia Francis sometime in the mid to late 90's when she moved from Glastonbury to Penzance.  The shop sold herbs, smudge sticks and of course candles essential oils and incense from her family's business - Star Child of Glastonbury.  We are still stockists today.

  By 2000 the shop had moved to its present location at the top of Causewayhead and was owned by Pam Masterson, not only a teacher from London, but a fully ordained priestess, yoga teacher, hypnotherapist, kabbalist and astrologer to name but a few of her accomplishments.  Under her care we gained the Stellar Maris Centre for Healing and Esoteric Studies which we just call the back room.  Pam's interest was primarily in teaching rather than retail.  Denver Scanes, possibly our best loved and longest serving shop assistant held sway out front, and is still much missed.

I'm Lorna.  I joined the Healing Star family sometime in 2003 armed with a lot of diplomas in holistic therapies and healing.  For several years I was one of the in house therapists, doubling also as cleaning lady and shop assistant as the need arose.  It is also the scene of my one and only professional Tarot reading!

In 2014, after a bout of very serious ill health, Pam decided to retire.  I was touched, honoured and terrified in equal measure to find that she had signed  over half the business to me.  Pam lost her battle with cancer in October 2015.  In 2016 I signed the lease as sole owner to begin my own adventure through some changing and challenging times to say the least.
